setback
Just to clarify, Ed's port was infected. It had to be removed today. He will try to heal with an open wound over the next days in the hospital.
This is a rare occurrence.
Having chemotherapy through IV is hardly ever done. Ed had that his first week of having leukemia.
The catheter line they put in during today's surgery will help to treat the leukemia while the wounds in his body heal.
At some future date they will put another port in, on the other side of his neck. We hope in about a month.
Sadly, he has barely any white blood cells to accomplish the task of healing.
Ed is very sick.
His spirits amaze the hospital staff. He has chosen to be positive.
I have a headache tonight. I choose to go and rest.
A long stay in the hospital stretches out before us.
Patience. Peace. Hope.

Blessings Count
Time to count blessings:
It's summer in Minnesota
Wonderful friends
Supportive family
Effervescent nature that Ed has always had
Good hospital---good doctors
Understanding employer
Home schooling... Flexibility
Pray-ers
Your prayers
Medications that take away pain and cure
Here we are, trying to be thankful in all things. It IS possible.
Praise the Lord with me. He is always good.

The Port
...must come out.
Surgery will happen later today.
I don't know the details of the next month, but it's looking like Ed won't be leaving the hospital very soon.
Thankful we have a great support group!
Leukemia stinks.
But God's got this.
