The Church in the Pagan World
Rejoice, friends, for we are to see a great awakening of true faith!
As I wrote last about Carl's stay here and his Paganicon conference I have since been thinking on the state of the "church" in the world.
It is really a rule of thumb that whenever a pagan culture has the upper hand, true faith shows its true colors, and people become truly converted to salvation in Christ Jesus!
It's a blessing that is perhaps unexpected, but healthy for spiritual life everywhere!
Living a life that is devoted to Jesus is the true goal of being born again. When we have a culture that is overtly or cosmetically "Christian" we get swept up in the idea of being good enough, or comparatively good, or even not so bad...
Deception! We can never be "good enough" for meeting God face to face except by the washing in blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus was our sacrifice, our payment for sin, all sin. It is only by His grace that we are saved, through faith. A gift.
When the world becomes entrenched in paganism (which, you will remember, is anything not of Jesus Christ---EVERYTHING not of Christ is pagan---no neutral territory!) believers really start to stand out. They start to be called out, to suffer, to shine, to be on display, to be persecuted, to look different, and to attract!
Because Christ is so attractive, and the Holy Spirit is working through these few willing to be called out from the world.
We are in the world, but not of it. We are called out. Ecclesia.
We are called to belong to the family of God and be His children. We are called to lives that are not characterized by sin. We are to forsake sin, and be separate.
We are called into the family of God. Synagogue. These ancient words have real meaning. They are not just names.
I have been enjoying my ancient language studies, and my Spanish is coming right along! I'm learning all sorts of ancient words in Spanish. I'm in Numbers, now, and today I read the account of Balaam and his donkey. (Burro :))
There is so much to understand with the way God communicates with us, and His Word is the ultimate gift.
I'm reading Hudson Taylor's Spiritual Secret now, too, and I see where he was called out, but called into the will of God and, he says, recompensed by the LORD far more in every way. He says He never gave anything up, God far out-blessed him in every way.
That is bound to set any believer apart from the rest of the world.
We give up friendships that draw us away from Christ. We give up desires that don't match His will. We give up the pursuit of gain here on earth for the unimaginable award that HEAVEN promises.
We show this strange hope and light to all around us, and watch just WHO is the Spirit going to draw?
Of course many will run, shrieking, from the light of Christ in you. Others will simply be repelled. (Always question, are you the one repelling, or Christ? It is a fair question, and you must examine yourself!) Christ repels. But you could too, if you are not acting in love.
The Christ-like Spirit loves, but it does not tolerate sin.
We are ALL sinners, so it doesn't judge sinners. God is the just Judge. We are the judged, but for Christ! We do judge behavior and we know what sin is as defined by the Bible, but we are not the ones that judge. We are merely giving warning that judgment is coming.
And it is coming soon.
We are at breakneck speed with the fulfillment of Bible prophecy.
We are at the cusp of the building of the temple. Sacrifices have been started. Gold has been found in Israel to pay for the construction of the Temple. The priesthood is ready to go.
Oh.
You don't know what I'm talking about? Shame on the apostate churches and pulpits of this day that do not preach from Daniel or Revelation. Shame on the apostates that are not in the Word of God daily, seeking to understand the times we are living in. Shame on the leaders, wolves in sheep's clothing, who say right is wrong, and wrong is right, leading little ones (both physically and spiritually) down the wrong path. It would be better for them to have a millstone hung on their neck and drowned in the the sea.
Too few churches preach on what to expect, what to watch for, what to KNOW about these days we are living in. The church is dying, and the true bride, believers, are being called out.
God saves. He knows who comes to Him. These are the "elect," and we cannot force anyone into the faith in Christ. God never forces. He woos.
You have been pursued. You have been called. You have been given the invitation to follow Jesus. Understand that when you do, you will no longer belong to this world. You will be different, hated, mocked, slandered. The world doesn't like you.
But God does. He loves everyone. Every single one. His grace is sufficient for all to believe. God is the Creator! He's beyond our ability to comprehend! He cares for you, and you are invited to put your everything in his hands.
Don't wait. You'll be transformed. As Hudson Taylor asserts, nothing will be taken from you without ample, overflowing compensation. You will gain.
I'm not talking money. I'm talking peace and hope, joy and security in Jesus Christ alone.
Stop being pagan. Become like Christ.

The Last Few Days: Last?
The sandhill cranes were heard on my two-mile walk with Corwyn last evening. I heard their trumpeting to the east. I assume that today I'll actually see them, but who knows? The minds of the sandhills are beyond my knowledge.
It's spring break, and I MUST clean. I have to get a few things organized. The dust of the winter must go away. I cannot tackle the windows yet, but that should happen soon. We've had several days of dry weather, much conducive to snow melt. Still, patches of snow litter our land, and the swamps are all lakes, 2 to 3 feet deep with COLD water. This is the time of year our property turns into lake-front.
The Crow River to the west is over its banks, and the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers are graciously accepting the torrents of melted snow flowing down all the subsidiary waterways.
It's rather exciting.
But also damaging. With the incredible snow pack this year we knew such flooding was inevitable.

come for tea?
We had an eminent guest this past weekend. Carl Teichrib has written the book "Game of Gods" that came out last fall.
He is a researcher from Canada. This past weekend he attended the "Paganicon" festival that is held in our area doing reporting, research. We were the lucky recipients of a first hand report every evening when he arrived home from the day's events.
Naturally we all have a lot to think about.
Some things that truly sounded incredible were a marriage of heaven and earth, and a workshop on victim sacrifice. Yes, these things are quite in the realm of acceptability among this large, swelling population. There were over 700 attendees, most of them witches and druids.
As believers in these last days we should not be surprised, nor alarmed. This was all predicted, prophesied. Carl pointed out how very like the events were to the same things happening when the Apostle Paul went to Rome. It's uncanny.
There is nothing new under the sun.
Are you following politics? The Mueller Report?
It is your choice to not pay attention to what is going on, to ignore ongoing events. I don't judge anyone for wanting to hide from all the conspiracy, intrigue, speculation, and downright dirt that come with politics.
I, on the other hand, find it very interesting. I have decided opinions and I watch to see if my own speculation is correct. I'm not going to apologize for my interest. Politics have a huge effect on our lives. I believe we should be PAYING ATTENTION.
I am a conservative/libertarian. I believe Trump is divinely appointed, as all leaders are, ultimately----for judgment or blessing. I believe in God, and His overarching interaction in human affairs. Trump is a fallen human being, just like King David in the Bible, but he has his moments of pure good. His stance on abortion has been hugely refreshing. Praise God for a pro-life president! That alone makes me a fan, but there are so many other things.
If you are not pro-life you need to repent. Seriously. You are lost. It is THE watershed issue of this age, and if you are even slightly pro-choice your spirituality is compromised. Seriously. No ifs, ands, or buts. You need Jesus, big-time.
Donald Trump is president of the most powerful and rich nation on the face of planet earth. The United States is wealthy because God allowed it. The puritans had ideals for this nation that instigated blessings for many, if not all who come here.
Yes, there are homeless people, poor people, those who have fallen ill to disease and sin.
Some have brought it on themselves, some have inherited the curses. Some have made poor choices.
It's interesting how those who are faithful never truly fall into despair. They may have hardship and persecution, yet their attitude is always one of trust in God, and God has preserved their lives----then taken them home to glory.
We all should be looking for ways to help those who need it. We are called by God to do what is right by all people, however we can. This may even mean taking the unloved into our own homes and loving them, providing for them. It may seem like too much, but nothing is too much for God. It may be that through helping, someone addicted to alcohol or drugs will find Jesus and accept Him as his or her personal savior.
We don't know, but we must try.
Carl's weekend really reminded me, once again, of how little time we believers have on this earth. We have a reprieve, of sorts, before the judgment falls. The hatred of those for believers will wax hot in a very short time.
I read the comments on Twitter and Facebook on MPR and NPR and I'm always shocked, SHOCKED, at the virulent hatred toward President Trump, America, Israel, and believers in Jesus Christ in general.
Tell us what you really think....!!!
There is a lot of hatred out there. These people (leftists) hate God, and therefore they hate anyone who loves Him. They are completely brainwashed by their hatred. They hate love of country, love of good, love of God's moral designs. They are baptized and washed in hate.
And they project their own hate onto anyone else. They accuse others of hating.
I shake my head.
You need to get a Twitter account and see it for yourself. It's incredibly sad.
Remember, Christ commands us to LOVE---Love God, Love others, love our enemies. We are a faith of love. We are disobeying Christ when we hate. This is true Christianity: LOVE.
We are to love the sinner, as we are each sinners. We are to love the murderer, the Muslim, the Buddhist, the witch, the homosexual, the abortion doctor, the leftist....
It's His command, and we must obey, though their hatred for us may snuff out this life. Hatred, after all, is really psychological murder.
Call out the evil. Call out the sin! Make it plain! Uncover the darkness! Bring evil to light! These are also commands of Christ. We need to take a stand against all that is dark, but our attitude should be compassionate love.
It's dark out there. It's dark in our own neighborhoods. Maybe you haven't seen it, but it is there. Carl could tell you. You need to be on the "offensive" for Christ Jesus. You must stand for righteousness and SHARE the Truth of salvation in Jesus Christ alone.
The wave of darkness is only growing, dear one. It's not going away. Jesus is coming soon. Watch and wait, and welcome the Prince of Peace.
I am going to prepare a place for you. I will come again......Jesus Christ, Yeshua-Messih.
Come, LORD JESUS!

Watchmen Watch!
It was one of my favorite weekends of the year, and it had little to do with being St. Patrick's Day.
I always block out the Red River Bible Prophecy Conference on my calendar each March. I love to get up to Moorhead and attend. My husband and I had reservations, but at the last minute we had a few conflicts come up (also major snow removal activity!) and we cancelled.
Thankfully, the conference is live-streamed on YouTube.
The Bach-Walk is almost always scheduled this particular weekend, too, a pipe-organ Bach Birthday Bash four or five concert extravaganza in the Twin Cities. I had thought to get to at least one of the venues (the concerts throughout the day are at different pipe organs in different churches in a relatively close proximity) but I opted to watch the conference entirely instead.
To top off the weekend (or start the new week per your perspective) our own church participated in a lecture by Dr. Thomas Ice at the Nazareth Chapel at Northwestern College in Roseville. He gave his presentation on the Rapture and then had a Q and A afterwards during lunch.

(His website, perhaps the power point references are on here)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NTWbk5yv9E
I found some of the power point on this one
This is the basic talk, without the power point Scripture references. I hope you can watch it, because it is really faith-building, hope giving.
Dr. Ice is truly a scholar.
One thing stood out to me this weekend, as I mature and attend these prophecy related things over the years: We can agree or disagree on many fine points of our spiritual walk with Christ. We all bring our own experiences and gathered knowledge to the table, and we listen and compare notes. The Bible is that sort of book, too. Certain things are emphasized by individuals, others camp on differing issues.
It's only wrong when someone gets out of balance and it doesn't measure up with what is actually in Scripture.
REALLY.
I'm the one who digs for roots. I like to see where things stem from----is it Pagan? Is it demonic? Is it something that was conjured up from a coping mechanism?
Not everyone is going to agree with me, but unless you know the Greek from the Textus Receptus (used by the early Reformers) and Hebrew to be able to read the Septuagint you are going to have to rely on other humans to interpret your Christianity for you. I'm beginning Hebrew, and Greek. (Greek starts on Wednesday after a holiday hiatus.) Studying the original languages has given me more confidence in the translations.
I do know that the whole Codex Sinaiticus affair SEVERELY affected the confidence in Scripture as God's Word, but the Modern Criticism movement was bound to bring about any way to undermine the authority of God's Word. If Scofield lived today he'd be a young earth creationist, a Pre-trib Rapture adherent and a dedicated inerrancy scholar. I'm pretty sure of this. One cannot look at all the evidence (Dead Sea Scrolls, DNA, modern scientific findings) and NOT be convinced that GOD'S WORD IS TRUE. I believe Charles Scofield believed that in the first place, and he would have easily jumped to some of the current evidence that proves the truth of Scripture.
There were always those dear old preachers who never left the authority of Scripture. Their reward is great.
I'm totally comfortable with most of the translations by the early Reformers, including Martin Luther. After all, his reading of the texts brought him to a completely different belief, a powerful one that spawned a massive movement based on the Word of God.
This weekend there was the KJV only preacher I listened to, with his (almost rabid) followers in tow, a former hippy with the inability to keep on subject, a friend who did ALL his research and prepared a coherent and informative presentation, and the elderly statesman-like scholar with a twinkle in his eye (that you can't see on YouTube) and his own very-well defended prophecy camp.
I had my own differing opinions with all of these great men. I agree with much, but not on every point.
Surprise? (You're laughing)
God's Word is True. Jesus is the Word. His Word is forever.
We can trust our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The arguments and the virulent mindsets of people who are willingly led down paths of distraction aren't worth our precious time.
Jesus is coming in the clouds soon to take/receive/rapture/harpazo/snatch/SEIZE his followers whether they are expecting it or not. Boom, we're gone. We have no warning, it's just the Father saying "Go" and Jesus going....in a moment, in a twinkling.
God, the creator, has made each of us for such a time as this, and since we see the signs of the end RIGHT NOW we can be pretty sure that we are the generation that does not pass away before the events of prophecy come to pass.
PRETTY SURE.
We see what may be the sign of Jonah, the one-world order/religion, the "fig tree" (Israel), the apostasy, the earthquakes, the "blood" moons, the changes in weather, the disease, famine (in a once rich country like Venezuela!), not to mention perversion and child-sacrifice deemed normal or acceptable.
I'm looking for Jesus, my savior, my LORD. I'm not looking for the anti-Christ or any other horrible event described in Revelation. I'm noticing the signs that these things are definitely developing!
But I'm looking for Jesus, and I'd better get my house in order.
I need to clean, because when I'm gone I want to leave a nice neat place for someone who will be looking for the TRUTH that they neglected to seek or accept before things got ugly.
You don't want to be here, dear one.
Repent and get right with the Lord today. Don't wait.
I watch the more ephemeral and less obvious signs too. There are watchmen that only do that; numbers and dates and such. I don't put much faith in these things, but they are certainly interesting to be aware of. No one is predicting a definite date like Harold Camping or any number of other false prophets we all have heard of. People are only speculating, and I do not take any of their ideas as "gospel truth." It's simply interesting to be informed.
Since 1948 we have been on a fast track of fulfilling the prophetic signs. Since Trump was elected Jerusalem was acknowledged as the Capital of Israel. This is a fulfillment of a prediction. Watchmen know this.
We are very, very close to the end of this age, the church age. God is not going to wait forever, but perhaps he is waiting for you.
Repent. Follow Him.

Changes
When your last home-schooled child flies the nest to independence and college you are presented with a dilemma.
I've never been a great housekeeper, but I valiantly do my duties. I'm much more of a "working gal" and I needed to reevaluate my life choices. As a teacher one must always earn "teacher credits" and my degree is in Elementary Education.
After 2 years of substitute teaching I realized something: I'm old and I can't keep up with the little ones. I love them, but the fast-paced schedule is really too exhausting for me. Since I lost my thyroid function over ten years ago I have seen my energy levels wane. Age is just part of the equation.
I still have some mental power, and I enjoy working with the middle and high school kids immensely. The nature of that sort of schedule suits me.
I had to do some real thinking.
I decided to apply for graduate school, and I was accepted in the Masters of Public Administration program at a local university.
New steps, new goals, change.
Since I plan to pursue this degree full time I will be backing off of my writing and my reading. Since I love to write, I'll be driven to it once in awhile, reporting on things, sharing a thought. That's what my writing amounts to anyway. If you don't hear from me, you'll know why. I am thinking that school and work will become my all-encompassing activity, as well as caring for my aging parents next door. It's been fun! Drop me a line sometime! I'll try to respond.
Thank you, blog readers, for your continued interest. I'm astounded that I have over 160,000 views on my blog, my little Corgi Hollows! You are my inspiration, and I hope that you have walked with me on your faith journey, your philosophy, your worldview.
I've enjoyed connecting with you on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ (which is going away tomorrow). I've been thrilled to join the network of believers world-wide. It's been wonderful.
Perhaps we will get back together. Perhaps we'll stay in touch. Perhaps we will meet in the air!
May God bless you, dear friends!
