Being a non-denominational type I wonder sometimes how denominations do things.
I've visited countless churches. I'm not clueless how theologies play out in different churches, mosques, and synagogues.
But I did have a thought today regarding sin and confession.
How DO you confess to a priest???
I don't think the books I've read or the movies I've seen cover this exactly. Right? My friends who are practicing Roman Catholics always hedge about levels of sin...kinds of sin. Granted, I'm not Roman Catholic, but I do wonder how this works, really.
Do you talk about your seven deadly sins or the gossip you shared? How about your over-eating that chocolate last weekend?
Maybe you tell about the pen you stole from the counter at the doctor's office, or a candy bar you picked up.
Are you the judge of your sin?
Maybe you only tell of the money you stole, the abortion you had, the pornography you enjoyed, or the rape you committed.
The murder?
As one who sees Christ as my savior I bring it all to him-----and for me, as a believer, it always begins with the thoughts.
Thoughts are the seeds of our actions. I take them to Christ daily, hourly, by the minute.
Because I am human, and sin is a part of my make-up.
The freedom in Christ is unmeasurable.
Just some thoughts this Maundy Thursday. Ed gets to practice at the local RC church every Thursday, and because this week is "holy week" we checked the church's schedule for conflicts. It appears there is confession going on.
Certainly.
