Just Sad

http://baylyblog.com/blog/2013/03/wheaton-announces-homosexuality-not-sin#comments

Recently we visited the Lutheran college that my son attends in northern Minnesota. We heard a lovely concert.

One thing one of my children remarked about was the giggling young men. The effeminate young men. The emasculation of men at this college is complete.

So sad that we see yet another "Christian" college dive.

Where are the men?

Pretending to be girls.

Culinary Ideas

I tried a new thing the other day in my pursuit of eating fewer foods of GMO origin.

I gave up drinking pop for this fasting season. (Please don't lecture me on fasting----I do it, not often enough, but "Lent" is a good time to group-fast, and being secretive about it just doesn't make sense when you are doing a group thing.)  Fasting is good as a physical benefit, not just a spiritual one.

I do like cola, for help in treating my headaches. It's probably psychological but it seems to help me some.

I saw this natural cane syrup cola mix at Target the other day and had a brain storm.

Natural cola syrup (no corn-syrup) and Mendota Springs sparkling water = WOW!

It's just really good cola!!

And it's not expensive! I didn't buy the soda machine. Didn't need to! The sparkling water was about $.50 a serving and the syrup about $.25.

That's cheaper than the sugar coke you can get at Costco, from Mexico.

Just thought I'd pass on the tip.

We also made a combination of these peeps and chocolate/peanut butter nests for the holiday. They are very cute, but I can't find an image from Woman's World magazine that published the recipe a few years back. They have green coconut too. Very cute.  Cherie did the whole recipe by herself, so I was so pleased.

Today I'm making dozens of hard-boiled eggs to bring to church for an impromptu breakfast. I want to bring a big fruit bowl and "cinnamon knots" too.

The knots are easy to make, not very sweet, but perfect finger food.

Our boys and their fiancees are invited with us to Grandpa's and Grandma's house for the feast.

I'm bringing white cake with lemon filling and whipped cream frosting for dessert. Along with the nests it should be very tasty!

Jesus is Risen! He is indeed Risen!!!!

Confession

Being a non-denominational type I wonder sometimes how denominations do things.

I've visited countless churches. I'm not clueless how theologies play out in different churches, mosques, and synagogues.

But I did have a thought today regarding sin and confession.

How DO you confess to a priest???

I don't think the books I've read or the movies I've seen cover this exactly. Right? My friends who are practicing Roman Catholics always hedge about levels of sin...kinds of sin. Granted, I'm not Roman Catholic, but I do wonder how this works, really.

Do you talk about your seven deadly sins or the gossip you shared? How about your over-eating that chocolate last weekend?

Maybe you tell about the pen you stole from the counter at the doctor's office, or a candy bar you picked up.

Are you the judge of your sin?

Maybe you only tell of the money you stole, the abortion you had, the pornography you enjoyed, or the rape you committed.

The murder?

As one who sees Christ as my savior I bring it all to him-----and for me, as a believer, it always begins with the thoughts.

Thoughts are the seeds of our actions. I take them to Christ daily, hourly, by the minute.

Because I am human, and sin is a part of my make-up.

The freedom in Christ is unmeasurable.

Just some thoughts this Maundy Thursday. Ed gets to practice at the local RC church every Thursday, and because this week is "holy week" we checked the church's schedule for conflicts. It appears there is confession going on.

Certainly.

The Battle Belongs to the Lord

I have a sweet Corgi snoozing at my feet. The Lab is under the table, waiting for Daddy to come home. She worships him.

They are so different, and yet they are both dogs.

I sometimes think that about people.

I've had a few sad days seeing people I know come out on the other side of the fence on DOMA from me.

You really can't sit on the fence. There's no compromise. You are either in or you are out---yet we are all human, and nice humans, too.

As someone who has learned many life lessons through the people I've loved and watched, as well as my own experience, I do have a unique and legitimate way of seeing.

I've seen my brother struggle with infidelity (his wife's). I saw her father die of AIDS----one of, if not the very first AIDS case in the US----in 1983. I remember. They didn't know what it was then.

I saw homosexuality's grip on her family, and I saw the destruction. Human destruction.

I speak from the sidelines, but I saw how all of that rotted our family.  Not just hers. It severed it forever. The scars are still red, and I feel the pain despite the forgiveness.

It was back then when I determined to take the strait and narrow road----to enter by the strait gate. It became clear to me that happiness only lies within the spirit, joy comes from pleasing the Father, living in His will, and cultivating fruit.

How did I know that path? The Holy Bible. I read it, over and over. I didn't let one particular teacher or brand of Christianity take over---I gleaned. I thought of all the Christians in the world given a gospel of John, and living for Jesus from then on! The Word is enough. It directs, it guides, it's relevant, it is truth. It's all we need. Yes, that's true---Genesis through Revelation.

Has it been a bed of roses? Certainly not. This life is so brief, and the suffering has its ultimate purpose.

Nothing is worth eternal hell for. Nothing.

Thankful that God has seemingly endless mercy. He only asks that we trust in Him. He asks that we believe.
He supplies the power to live for Him, and yes, it will be different from the rest of the world. You will be on the other side of the fence from MOST.

The way is narrow. The broad road leads to destruction.

Get on the narrow, and learn it is worth everything. Let God fight the cultural and spiritual battles. Let Him be your bulwark, your mainstay.

My joy is in the Lord. He is my EVERYTHING.
