Persecution Heating Up

As John Haller ably explains and illustrates in his Sunday sermon which I posted, the true believers around the world are being discriminated against and marginalized.

Those who hold to marriage being (as Jesus defined) between one man and one woman, those who hold to the value of life in the womb, those who hold to Biblical mandates---(Love the LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, and LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF) will increasingly find themselves unpopular and persecuted.

REJOICE, believers. We, who are love, as we are in Christ, will have the opportunity to shine that love as never before.

It is when the church is persecuted that it becomes the true light of the world. It shines and those who do not belong to Christ simply fall away.

Yes, it's sad, but it's better to be sure of one's spiritual state.

I know there are so many people who call themselves "Christian" who have rejected God's Word, as it is written.

As it is written, thus sayeth the LORD GOD OF HOSTS, Alpha and Omega.

When you disagree or disregard His Words you are heading for hell.

God gives everyone a choice. He never forces anyone to follow Him. His way is hard! It's full of persecution, trial, hardship, and pain. It's the ultimate counter-cultural stance.

Recently an old high school classmate of mine posted an article that asserted that any fundamentalist Christian was mentally ill.

We need to get ready to be called that, and worse. How will it end? Those who know Christ truly will go to be with Him, be tested to the maximum, and will be hated.

They may pay with their lives.

God calls us to serve Him, to stand for Him. We don't expect anyone who doesn't belong to Him to conform to His rules for life, but sin is unacceptable to a believer.

Sin is unacceptable.

God defines sin in the Bible. Those of us who have the indwelling Holy Spirit understand and follow Christ and His commands. We don't expect anyone else to follow, but we know the difference, and we will not be moved.

At least for now we have the opportunity to reason with anyone. That may end.

It will probably end. Leave the pretenders, leave the deceivers alone! Follow the truth, and let things fall as they will. You belong to Christ. Don't worry for your life!

These words are for this age.  Take a firm stand in Christ. Do not fear. The world is desperate for the light of Christ Jesus, savior.

Corgi Hollows Stuff

I know it's been awhile since I've written, faithful followers! Thank you for continuing to check on this blog. I am going through more life changes, and this has me busier than usual.

The Lord has been convicting my heart about certain things, too, and I want to share some of that here. Sometimes there needs to be sort of a "bullet list" of things happening, shaping me, driving me.

Since getting accepted into graduate school I've been getting registered, checking out the classes, doing all those nit-picky things!

Cherie is also doing it, and so is Ed. We will have five members of our family in school come fall. There are the FAFSA forms to fill out, all kinds of hoops to jump through...

It's time consuming!

We got to the state home-school conference a couple of weeks ago. That was fun, and it was most likely our last one to attend. As always there were interesting people to meet and wonderful materials to acquire, mostly books. Books are our thing.


I got several Newberry Honor books, a couple of Caldecott's. I found some excellent books for only 25 cents.

I like to give these to kids at school. The stuff they buy at the book fairs is dismal and dark for the most part. Kids read all about ghosts and witches, disgusting things and, well, darkness.

I like to give out books that inspire, teach history, character, or just capture the imagination in a positive "light" way.

I think E.L. Konigsburg is a great author, and I've given out a few of the book "From the Mixed-Up files of Mrs. Basil E Frankweiler." Just a really good book!

I found some like that, to stock up on, for a kid at school who didn't bring anything to class.

Recently I got  to sub in the libraries at two of the schools, and I was thrilled to see plenty of old classics, old favorites, and generally wonderful books that have stood the test of time.

This is encouraging.

At the home-school conference I was formally introduced to the "Deep Web," the one behind the pay wall, which most people have no access to.

The great state of Minnesota, where I am privileged to live, has paid the fees for these paywalls, and anyone who lives in Minnesota can access the deep web. It was exciting to find out about this, especially as this family heads into school this fall.

We have access to incredible information, all documented and peer-reviewed. There is a wealth of info in the deep web, but it doesn't usurp the owning of excellent literature, especially children's literature.

That has always been my forte.

I justify my collection in many ways!

I have gradually built up all sorts of collections over the years, especially Tasha Tudor's works (Corgi inspiration!) and Adrienne Adams. I love these sweet illustrations and gentle subjects.

I like Hetty Beatty, too, whose drawings are so memorable and simply genius! She didn't write many books, but they are all wonderful.

I could go on and on, but I digress.

I start another job next week, evenings. I'm happy about it. I'll let you know how it goes!

School must be paid for.

The world still turns.

I'm excited about our prophecy tea that is coming up on Sunday evening. I'm interested to see who shows up and what the discussion will reveal to all of us!

Margaret has left with Gail, my "adopted" daughter, on an epic quest. I will not openly share about it, but it is epic. Truly. It's practically space travel...

Pray for them when you think of them. The journey will take about six months.

I'll try to give cryptic updates from time to time, but I won't disclose their location until after the trip is finished. For now, please just pray for their safety. This momma is praying hard!

So much to think about. So many changes!

Life is certainly not boring. My husband likes to say that boredom is not a problem around here.

No, it isn't. I think there may be too much happening, most of the time.

Peanut Butter Cookies

I actually have two brothers, and although they are not close to me, I think of them from time to time. They are both quite a bit older than I, and we grew up further apart than most siblings.

Today I pulled out an old recipe from the file today, and it was "Mrs. Barron's Peanut Butter Cookies."

I have this faint memory of my brother making these when I was very young. I'd gotten the recipe from my mom's recipe box, and I've made them many times since, but today I recalled my brother being the baker. Food brings back so many memories!

These are really good, and so easy to make! Here's the recipe:

1 cup peanut butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 cup butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 cups flour

Mix. Form into balls. Press with fork.
Bake at 350* for 10 minutes (or 12, depending on your oven).
