Life Coaching for FREE

I've learned a lot over my five decades of life. Because I am a mom and now a grandma I pass on my little tidbits of wisdom in any way I can. Here's a good post for young folk to read and take to heart. (I also shared a little bit of this at the jail the other night.)

If you want to be wealthy, learn to invest. (More on that below!)
If you want to be rich, work hard.
If you want to be happy, serve others.
If you want peace and joy, follow Jesus.

There is the recipe for human contentment.

I'm not wealthy, and I have discovered that I don't want to be wealthy. Wealth is a bondage that takes over your life, scews your thinking and your existence.

We all like a nice trip to see the world (or most of us do), a beautiful horse, a nice car, a mansion....What do you define wealth as being? What ever you think of as wealth, be sure it isn't being rich or happy, because it isn't.

How many happy wealthy people do you REALLY know?

I don't know any.

They are all sinners in the hands of a just God, and they are running from truth. Wealth enslaves people, shuts them in fortresses of all kinds.

Being rich is a little different. One may have very little money and be rich. Richness is the benefit of working hard and enjoying the profits of that work. This is why Socialism is so devastating to the human spirit! It robs people of the benefits of being rich.

Richness is accepting limitations and planning well. Richness is having goals and keeping them in perspective. Richness is knowing there are seasons of life that supersede those plans, goals, and desires.

Perhaps you are rich in time for a season. You may want to devote that richness to volunteering or pursuing more education. Perhaps you want to invest your riches in your grandchildren, should you have them.

Maybe you are rich in other ways. There are myriad ways to define richness. Money is only one.

When I "worked" for Primerica for awhile I learned amazing things. It's a great company, and I was able to sell one insurance policy. (: !

I learned about debt stacking, debt coverage, wise investment, and patience. All of these are necessary to acquiring wealth AND financial independence. Sadly our world is full of people who were NEVER educated in these things.

Our education system has failed.

But remember! Wealth is a goal that doesn't bring joy or happiness. It may give a measure of contentment and even anxiety relief, but it DOES NOT bring peace. It is a dangerous pursuit, sometimes at the cost of one's very soul.

It should be a goal only to bring glory to God, if you choose to make it one of your goals.

BE CONTENT with what God has given you! Don't desire things that will rust and gather dust. Don't yearn after experiences that will only fade in your memory. Invest in what is eternal!

Investing is an interesting word. We are constantly investing.

We invest in people, real estate, animals, education, travel, retirement, YouTube, Facebook, movies, television, cell phone time....

Have you analyzed your investments recently? You may be surprised at where your assets are going.
Have you analyzed your assets?

These are the things that make up our lives.

I really like my new job at the hotel. I meet all sorts of fascinating people. It's a nice hotel, and the people that stay there usually are those that can afford to.

Cranky, crabby people, quiet sad people, boisterous, demanding people, grateful, nice people, understanding people. People whose appearance screams "MONEY!" People who are modest and humble.

What a parade of humanity.

I had a(n) (obviously) homeless person come in one day asking for a room with great dignity. I informed him of the cost and the conditions and he then asked for directions to an ATM. It was a convenient and dignified way to leave the hotel and not return.

I do see it all.

Life lessons. What are you pursuing? The answer should be joy and peace. The only way to have them is to follow Christ, the One who made it all, and in Whom all things exist and have their being.

He has appointed you to His offices, and you will never find peace until you can execute His will and accept His plan for you.

There are seasons. Life changes, sometimes on purpose, sometimes accidentally. Knowing God is in charge of every minute detail is extremely comforting and freeing for those of us who know Him.

Our diseases are all in His hands.

With joy and peace the rest of life comes into plain focus. Wealth is understood, riches abound.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. He knows your needs! Consider the lilies! Consider the birds! Doesn't He fashion and take care of these things of apparent little worth? How much more does He care for you?

You are His workmanship! You are created in His image! You are worth far more. He loves to provide for you.

Rest in His plan, His provision, His wisdom, His final goal for you.

"I've got a mansion
just over that hilltop...
in that bright land where
we'll never grow old!

And someday yonder
we will never more wander
but walk that street that
is purest gold."

That is the goal; riches of heaven, where moth and dust do not corrupt.
