Taste of Normalcy

God ordained the Sabbath for man, and yesterday was one much needed.

We got up and went to church, had communion, and drove back home to home-made carnitas burritos, made as much like Chipotle's as possible.

We have been out to eat seldom, even drive-through or take-out, since February. We used to stop at "The Club" (Costco) for lunch on Sundays where often we ate with friends from our old neighborhood in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis.

Minneapolis.

George Floyd.

Covid-19.

On Friday I had some friends out to go see the peony farm west of our home now. We admired the acres of blooms----whites, pinks, reds, magentas, yellows! Gorgeous works of art that God created. Is the peony not the king of flowers? It rivals none for scent and glory.

I picked six blooms from my own peonies for the dining room table today.

My mom has had a bouquet on her dining room table that should be painted and put in the Minneapolis Institute of Art: white and hot pink peonies, white and hot pink bleeding heart. I'll ask her to text me a photo, perhaps to post here. It was fleetingly glorious.

Yesterday we ate fresh rhubarb custard pie (Millie Pipal's recipe) and sat in a breezy porch. My parents' porch is open to the west, ours is protected on the east. It's nice to have variation.

As we sat there, there arose a clatter in the porch fireplace chimney. That fireplace was used once, I think, and the house started on fire, so it's not the best for actual fires. It's cute on the porch, though. The clatter was obviously made by some trapped critter.

My husband stepped up to the plate as the one to investigate. Not a squirrel, but a bird----large----a raptor? The damper inhibited a direct rescue, so he opened it up and we sat in the breezy sunset glow and chatted until !!!!

Out dropped a female wood duck.

It was injured slightly, but it flew some, and we all directed it toward the door to the yard. Off it flew, low, and then landed and waddled into the north-side wooded area. I will look for it later to see if it needs more assistance.

Such a beautiful bird, trapped, unable to get out of the steep chimney. Further investigation revealed that it had probably been there some time. My dad keeps a wire enclosure on the top of the chimney, but it was missing, and will have to be replaced. Why do wood ducks like chimneys?! This is not the first one to be rescued here.

Why do we all have this tendency toward destruction?

Godless society is not a place to want to exist, but we know we are already there. Human nature is evil, and those who think it possible to create morality outside of God's dictates are sorely mistaken.

Socialism kills. Communism fails. Marxism seeps into everything via Satanic influence.

The veneer of Marxism is doing good-----but it destroys in the end.

The beautiful month of June is here. The greens and spots of flower color are abundant. How long, Oh Lord?

I stand outside at night with Corwyn and look up at the stars. The signs in the heavens point to a soon rescue of the church. I hope so. Normalcy seems to be fleeting lately, whatever normal was or is.

We are well. We are content. We have what we need. We have hope.

I've been switching my globalist textbook reading to more Christian literature lately. School is finished for the semester. I wonder how next fall will look.

I lost over 60 jobs substitute teaching this past spring and I wonder how subbing will look in the fall. The loss of income is, of course, felt, but I still have my job at the hotel. That started back up after a month. I have to follow all the sanitizing rules strictly, and it's doable.

Here we are, with a reset button all done up with a bright bow! A gift to the world, to fulfilling prophecy. Everything is different, a new order is already in place.

So what does a Bible-believer do? We pray for our children, we pray for those who do not know Jesus. We look up and listen for that SHOUT! We pray for mercy and strength. We pray for God's protection. We pray for the blind sheep that clamor for order in all the wrong places.

We pray. We encourage. We watch.

We wait.

The new normal.

Maranatha!
